First Team Warm up, Hampshire v Dorset 13th April 2024

The second warm up fixture of the 2024 season saw the Hampshire First Team travel to Barton on Sea Golf Club to play Dorset. The views were breathtaking with the sea sparkling and a stiff breeze that made play tricky. However, both teams coped well with the conditions and played some super shots.

Hampshire were represented by Gemma Burgess, Sammi Keen and Amelia Williams playing singles and the pairings of Becky Scott and Diane Oram, and Aimee Paterson and Georgina Carter playing foursomes. A very experienced line up.

The scores were looking good, for Hampshire, after the Becton front nine had been completed and more exciting play on the Needles saw the end result of 4 games to 1 in Hampshire’s favour.

It was a pleasure to welcome Claire and her Dorset team, with both squads enjoying more important match practice ready for the season ahead. We wish Dorset well for their County Match Week at Perranporth and hope that they again qualify for County Finals.

Thank you to everyone at Barton-on-Sea Golf Club, especially Lady Captain Lisa who came along to welcome both teams. We loved visiting your course with its stunning views and challenging holes, with special mention for the intimidating 18th hole over water where the first match was decided. Nobody envied the two players teeing off with water front and back and a swirly, unpredictable wind. Our first team girls certainly have nerves of steel!
