After many weeks of planning, players and Hampshire officials began arriving very early on the Wednesday 14th May. The course looked immaculate after many weeks of work by James Norris The Blackmoor Course Manager and his team. The Hampshire banners fluttered in a soft breeze and the coming day looked to be beautiful .

LGU CORONATION MEDAL
The Challenge Salver - Handicaps 10.0-16.9
Some 57 players played in the qualifying round. A stunning 67 nett by Carole Sparling from North Hants GC took 1st place. This score would later prove to be the lowest nett score of the entire week winning the LGU Coronation Medal
The Challenge Bowl- Handicaps 17.0-24.0
The Bowl field expanded slightly with some people dropping down from the Salver bracket and others earning late promotion from Division 2. In the end 83 people competed with the worthy winner of the Qualifying round being Jilian Howarth of Liphook with a nett 69. This was the second best nett of the week.
From each of these qualifiers 16 people progressed to the matchplay round on Friday.
Thursday 15th May
The Division 2 Stableford Handicaps 24.1 - 36.0
There were 63 overall in this Championship Field. Division 1 was won comprehensively by Janice Hounsham with 41 points from Worldham Park GC and Division 2 by Julie Brett of Royal Winchester GC with 44 points.
The Division 2 Prize giving was held that afternoon. Trophies and Prizes were presented by the President of Blackmoor GC.
Meanwhile the lovely new Quinn Scratch Senior Bowl was delivered to the club. It has been given to Hampshire Ladies Golf by Chris Quinn, and is for a competition in Championship Week for handicaps + to 9.9 for ladies over 50.

Friday 16th May
36 Hole Championship Qualifying Rounds This year we were very pleased to have 34 entries on the day for the County Championships. An early start at 0800 playing in threes. The reigning Champion Gemma Burgess lead off. It was another hot early summer day and the course was difficult. The greens were very fast and smooth, the fairways firm and the pins challenging. By the end of the morning round the lowest gross was 78 by Kelly Travers of Arlesford GC followed by the highly experienced Kerry Smith of Waterlooville GC.
After the first Championship round a small field of 12 competed for the new Quinn Scratch Senior Bowl in its inaugural year. They too found the course a challenge with a Gross 81 leading the field by Diane Oram of Basingstoke GC.
The first of the Salver Matchplay round of 16 followed , with the Bowl Matchplay hot on their heels.
Then time for Round 2 of the Championship. Now the contenders started to improve on the morning efforts. By the end of Round 2 .it was as follows. The top 16 progressing to the matchplay rounds.
