The Veteran’s Team made the long journey down to Long Sutton on Monday 19th August to play our match against Somerset. It was a dull and windy day which didn’t seem to dampen everyone’s enthusiasm. There was rather a frenetic start to the morning when we arrived to be told that the Golf Club had moved the tee times forward by 30 minutes. So for some it was a quick coffee and dash to the first tee.
The course was fairly challenging with water, ponds and strategically placed ditches, doglegs and small greens but I think everyone enjoyed their games. The overall match was very close with Somerset winning 4-3 but all the individual games were fairly close, except one which we won. The Hampshire Team were giving the shots in all the games so it was a really good result.
