1st Team Match Report – Hampshire v Oxfordshire: Saturday 3rd June 2023
Venue: Henley Golf Club
Our original friendly fixture against Oxfordshire in March was cancelled due to a water-logged North Hants GC, so it was great to travel to Henley GC to play the rearranged match.
Oxfordshire were fielding their County Match Week squad and so the Hampshire girls knew that they were in for a tough battle. After 9 holes and some stunning play from the Home Team, including an eagle on the first, the scores were looking to be well in Oxfordshire’s favour. However, each Hampshire player remained positive and played the back 9 brilliantly to secure a victory by 4 matches to 1.
Thank you to Henley GC for their warm welcome and to Sarah and Gillian (Oxfordshire County Captain and Vice Captain) who were a delight to liaise with. The fixture will be played at North Hants in 2024 giving very useful practice on the course ready for CMW 2024.
Most of all, thank you to the 7 Hampshire girls who travelled to Henley and showed what strength and depth there is in Hampshire Ladies Golf.
