HLG Autumn Meeting Div 1 at Hockley GC

The Division 1 Autumn Meeting was played at Hockley GC on Thursday 4th September on one of the most challenging days for weather seen this year. The course itself is high in the south downs, and the players were exposed to gale force winds at times driving rain and even a burst of hail stones as a thunder cell passed about 15 miles north of the course. The Club and Competition Director were monitoring lightening activity constantly. Safe to say that's the only weather we did not see. We had 62 entrants on the day.

Despite all of this there were actually some stunning scores. Eventually the sun returned .

Hockley Golf Club were excellent hosts, with helpful staff at every level and gallant lady members turning out to act as starters, standing out on the first tee in appalling conditions at times. 

At the prize giving it was an extra delight that Sammi Keen from the Isle of Wight, Freshwater Bay was presented with her County Colours. She is fresh from the Isle of Wight triumph at the Island Games.
