There was some great golf played this week at Stoneham GC as they hosted the English Senior Women’s Amateur Championship.
Following on from qualifying as the top seed, Kerry Smith (Waterlooville) produced a stunning display of golf to become the new English Senior Women’s Amateur Champion and winning the Wendy Taylor Salver.
The quarter-final match between Kerry and Tracy Williamson (Sheringham) finished on the 20th hole with their match producing an incredible 11 birdies.
It’s been a joy to watch such excellent golf over the last couple of days.
Some 21 years ago, Kerry became English Amateur Champion, so quite an achievement to have won both titles. Many congratulations Kerry. Hampshire is proud of you.
Congratulations also to Jane Bennett (Lee on the Solent) and Lynne Cowser (Alresford) who both made it through to the match play stages of the Ann Howard Trophy.
